This "Planting Seeds for Children" Yoga Playschool Program was created for children ages 3-5. Children learn yoga poses, breathwork, and mindfulness in a playful way while also building their imagination through open-ended play materials and activities. You can also expect your child to be connecting to nature on the rooftop garden, outdoor space, and learning through song, story, unstructured play and movement. Program registration fees are $100.00 annually. Cost of program is $100.00-$200.00/month (depending on frequency per week).
This nature-based yoga program is taught by Diana Trang, a Certified Children's Yoga Teacher. Diana also has a background in Early Childhood Education and has many years of experience working with children in various work and volunteer settings. As a mother and educator, Diana finds herself inspired by the Waldorf, Reggio-Emilia, Montessori, and Forest School approaches; and is an Attachment Parent at heart. She believes there is value in all of these philosophies - and as such - you will see many of these teachings integrated into her customized curriculum.
This nurturing and engaging program focuses on the "whole child". Children are tuned into daily rhythms which flow through yoga and movement, mindfulness, nature, open-ended play, song, stories, and handwork; all of which ultimately encourage cognitive development and growth; while also building on fundamental initiative, integrity, imagination, and inquiry!

YIN YOGA CLASS
CLASS LOCATION & TIME:
Thursdays 7:45-8:45pm Sundays 1:00-2:00pm
Satori Wellness Studio #201B, 3517 -- 35 Street SE
WHAT IS YIN YOGA?
Yin Yoga is a style of yoga that targets the connective tissues of the body (tendons, fascia, and ligaments) through slow and long-held stretches. These poses, which are generally held for 3-7 minutes, assists in increasing circulation to the joints and improving flexibility. Due to the stillness in the poses, we see this as a great opportunity to focus on the Breath, thus activating the meditative side of the practice.
ORIGINS OF YIN YOGA
The roots of Yin Yoga originate from India and China, and some consider it to be one of the oldest forms of yoga due to it's significance in the traditions of Hatha Yoga from India and Taoist Yoga from the Greater China area. In India, the embodiment of the energy systems within us are referred to as "Prana/Nadis" (Energy/Pathways), and in China, the Taoists refer to it as "Qi/Meridians", which was founded on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Shiatsu is also founded on these TCM principles. In the western world, however, it began being taught in the late 1970's.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A CLASS?
If you are familiar with the concepts of Yin and Yang, you will know that the majority of us live in a "Yang" type of lifestyle - fast, quick-paced, and busy. "Yin" on the other-hand is quite the opposite - slow, relaxing, releasing, and restorative. This is exactly what you can expect from a class. Slow and mindful movements, carefully thought out to promote healing for the body, while also speaking to those stagnant/sore areas within the body, and allowing those areas to release. It is a wonderful antidote for stress of the body and mind! Within a 1-hour class, we flow through 4-8 different sets of postures, always ending in Shavasana. Students are provided with props to support comfort on the mat, and hands-on adjustments to "fine-tune" and allow for a deeper engagement.
WHO SHOULD GO TO A CLASS?
Anyone and everyone! All experience levels are encouraged to go to this class. Much as each of us has our own individual goals outside of yoga, the same is to be said within the yoga practice. For those who are experienced, it can provide a meditative and therapeutic experience; for those who are new to yoga, it provides a slow and gentle ease into the practice; for those who are athletes, it provides a form a therapy for the connective areas of the body; and for those who are new to a fitness regime, it provides a opportunity to get into better health and wellness. Whichever of these body types you are - there is no doubt that you will benefit from this practice. Come. Feel nourished in your Body, Mind, and Soul.

PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE KIDS YOGA CLASSES [Open to preschoolers, school-age, teen, etc.]
Private yoga sessions give your child the opportunity to spend 1-on-1 time with a Certified Children's Yoga Teacher. Each pre-arranged class is tailored to your child's specific needs and goals. By giving your child specialized individual attention, it allows them to work on the many aspects of yoga that benefit them holistically, giving them the tools and confidence to develop their own practice, while also teaching them the techniques to improve on body awareness, focus, strength, flexibility, relaxation and self-regulation. Children are sponges! Even at toddler age, children learn the fundamentals of yoga (poses, sequences, breathwork, mindfulness & meditation).
Older children (pre-teen & teen) still learn the fundamentals, but classes are also individualized to benefit them at time that takes them through many body changes, increased peer pressures, social expectations, etc.. Private sessions guide them through this time and give them a healthy outlet for self expression, a place to build trust & self-love, and equip them with the tools than can enhance and support them in their lives on and off the mats.
Private classes can be purchased in single sessions or packages and can run anywhere from 30 - 90 minute in length. Classes can be scheduled in singular or multiple sessions and at times/days that work best for your schedule. Prices range anywhere from $50.00-$120.00 /per class depending on class length and frequency.
Semi-private classes are also available. This is a great option for those who may have other friends/family who are interested in learning in a more private setting. Props and mats are provided for all classes.
