Healthy Habits: Do it for You
It's that time of year again. The time of new year's resolutions, goals to quit bad habits, and that big push to begin a mission to a happy, healthier you. While many of us fall privy to that urge to crush goals , we must differentiate the intrinsic motivation from the extrinsic motivation.
Is it your own desire to better yourself and improve your overall well-being? Or do you feel a societal pressure to get something done? Only you will know the answer to that question, and only you can define it for your life.
Connecting to the answer and making good choices surrounding healthy habits has the potential to create incredible meaning and motivation in your life. So how do you go about creating a habit or goal that is authentic? Well, we've all heard the saying "You can't pour from an empty cup". It's true.
Try it.
Fill your cup.
Create a habit or set a goal that is self-serving in the best way. No strings attached. One that betters your relationship with yourself. One that creates happiness within. One that repeatedly fills you with joy. With no timeline.
(And do it for you).
Human nature and responsibility has us busy. Working, driving our kids to their extra-curriculars, taking care of others, to-do lists galore. When it comes to taking care of ourselves, we're out of juice.
So it needs to be intentional.
Take the time.
Place a high importance on it.
What you'll begin to notice is your cup transforms to a teapot (and with a nice reserve to go around).
